🧰 Redesign, Respect, Review
Welcome to my website redesign! I have finally left the 1999 world of Blogger and entered the 21st century... just a few years late (cough cough). MANY thanks to wonderworker Anna Beebe Wilkens for ALL the work on this new site. PLEASE reach out to her if you have any small business or non-profit back-end needs related to technology. I cannot recommend her enough!
I have tried to slow down a bit this summer after a full spring of teaching, coaching and creating an e-course. I've been somewhat successful on the "slowing down" part, but have still managed to keep occupied with clients. Below are the resources I've used in the last couple of months - thanks for reading!︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎ ︎

Crucibles of Leadership. This is a slightly longer read, but I'm giving you my copy with highlights and underlines to help you pay attention! If you are going through a challenging time, I especially want to recommend this article. It is about how going through difficult times has the potential to make us stronger. I found it a very interesting and inspiring read.
Career Contemplations. I am receiving a steady increase in requests for career coaching. So for one week I posted an article each day on LinkedIn that I have passed along to clients to assist them if they are starting to ask "What's next?" Here they are:
Your Own Energy Battery. I got this from Dr. Steven MacGregor, and wanted to share it because it speaks to a regular conversation I have with clients regarding energy, motivation, and frankly, how to get more of both! It is crucial to be mindful as to your energy status, but also how you need to refill it. This provides a great lens through which to better understand it.
Quarterly Review Q's for Managers. One of the key roles of the manager is to *think ahead* and also *stay above* the day-to-day work. Here are 5 useful questions you can ask your team quarterly or even in a 1:1. Put them in your calendar now to remind you!
Writing Respectfully: Person-First and Identity-First Language. I'm now at the point where not a week goes by where I do not have a conversation regarding neurodivergence. Monthly meetings with employee resource groups, coaching with managers who are seeking to better manage their neurodivergent employees, or empathically listening to someone wonder whether they have ADHD, are autistic, struggle with managing their OCD, and so on... the list goes on as awareness expands. Regardless of where you land in this conversation, I found this article helpful for "when we communicate with, for, and about people with disabilities, diseases, and health conditions."
Future Trends: Amy Webb. I truly cannot recommend this podcast interview by Brene Brown enough. This takes a little bit of concentration as it’s dealing with some very big but also very significant issues. It also introduced to me a term I had not heard before: “Generation T," which is defined as all of us together going through massive, unprecedented, accelerated change right now. We need to be in it together, and learn how to understand and plan for it as best as we can. This is a really thought-provoking discussion.
Now that you’ve landed on my new website, please take a tour and tell me what you think! I'd also love to hear your feedback on any of the resources from this month’s post. Just send me an email at kelly.soifer@ksleadershipdevelop.me. And feel free to pass thing along to friends, family and co-workers. Ciao for now.
